Join Unitarian poet Alex Winstanley, a poet and spokesman for the mental health movement. This spiritually uplifting look at the creative potential of mental illness will help to shed some light on this marginalized condition. This will be a homily of joy and redemptive passion for people suffering from mental illness, their families, and also, anyone who wants a perspective other than the medical model. Schizophrenia has for too long been a taboo issue in our society. For too long men and women suffering from this condition have considered themselves inferior or broken. This talk will show how it is vitally important for people who hear voices, not to shun them but to integrate and embrace them in a circle of self-compassion, as part of the human experience.
